Garden tour with Katrin Schröder, curator of garden monument preservation, SPSG, as part of the Babelsberg Bohemian Days
The tour leads along the southern slope of the Babelsberg from gatehouse II to the construction site of the new Babelsberg municipal swimming pool. The curator of garden monument preservation, Katrin Schröder, reports on site about the lesser-known history of this part of the park.
The participants learn about the effort it took to transform the dry plain area of the park into a park with trees, meadows, paths and stone formations, what happened to the park's tree nursery, and why the Great Lake is dry but the Kindermannsee has water. We talk about grass paths and a lost bark house, as well as how Babelsberg citizens stood up for the park in the post-war period.
Duration of the tour: 1.5 hours.
