Group exhibition Barbara Müller-Kageler, Christine Berndt, Stefanie Hillich, MK Kaehne, Felix Müller and Henry Stöcker

The Adlershof Gallery is dedicating its upcoming exhibition to the painter and professor Barbara Müller-Kageler. Her works enter into an artistic dialogue with works by the generations she influenced as a teacher: Christine Berndt, Stefanie Hillich, MK Kaehne, Felix Müller and Henry Stöcker.

With her back views and beach pictures, Barbara Müller-Kageler has taken a firm place in the Berlin School of Painting. Her repertoire of forms and her characteristic, gray-toned color world developed from this cosmos of motifs. Light, color nuances, body shapes, traces of the landscape and the abstract translation of these elements form the core of her artistic work - an ongoing narrative of shivering on the beach. For decades she found these motifs on the Baltic Sea and implemented them in her roof studio on Anna-Seghers-Straße in Adlershof - in the house in which she spent her entire 85-year life.

As a teacher, she influenced numerous artists: first she taught in the roof studio of the Humboldt University, later, after the fall of the Berlin Wall, as a professor at the Berlin-Weißensee Art Academy.

These encounters are also reflected in the works of her former students:

Christine Berndt's video works deal with light, MK Kaehne carries his travels with him in suitcases, and Henry Stöcker deals with the upright posture between person and abstraction. Stefanie Hillich and Felix Müller, on the other hand, place their figures in landscapes - but in inner and surreal worlds.

  • The exhibition Auf der Spur will open on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 7 p.m. in the Adlershof Gallery.

  • Marco Brauchmann, District Councilor for Further Education, Schools, Culture and Sport, and Julia Brodauf, artist, author, curator and studio representative of Berlin, will give a welcoming speech and introduce the exhibition.

An extensive accompanying program complements the show.
