Artist Talk is a series of talks organized by artothek berlin in which artists from the collection and their work are presented in a personal exchange. Marc Gröszer and Jan Gottschalk will host the talks.

Skadi Engeln: “In my paintings and prints, I deal with landscape and figure as synonyms for our world. Inspired by observations on my travels, I work with layering, transparencies, painterly interweaving and irritations, as well as with associative, dream-like scenes.

In a process of condensation and dissolution, I create works that trace the essence, beauty and vulnerability of our world, exploring its fleeting transitions and transcendence. I experiment with possible balances that leave room for both the connective and the destructive and thus for transformation.”

Skadi Engeln studied sculpture with Robert van de Laar and painting with Michael Kohr and Hermanus Westendorp at the Ottersberg University of Applied Sciences and lives and works in Berlin and France.
