On 11 April, Ara Malikian presents his new tour ‘Intruso’ at the Admiralpalast in Berlin. This extraordinary concert tour is a profound, personal exploration of the question of belonging and the development of a multicultural identity.

From feelings of alienation to the realisation that art and music can lead to a global home, the world-renowned violinist shares his story in a fascinating way.Born in Lebanon as an Armenian, Malikian experienced early on what it means to feel truly at home nowhere.

As a ‘Lebanese’, he was not fully accepted by other Lebanese, and Armenians considered him ‘not quite Armenian enough’ because of his birthplace in Lebanon. When he finally moved to Europe, he once again found himself in an in-between world - not recognised as ‘European’ because he was not born in Europe.
This alienation was also reflected in his relationship with music: in every note he carried the nostalgia of a home he never really had, a place where he never quite belonged, but instead of being discouraged by this sense of ‘intrusion’, Malikian discovered that this position gave him the freedom to explore and enjoy different musical styles and cultures.

The diversity of his multicultural experience not only enriched his music, but led him to realise that the whole world is his home - a place where music connects as a universal language.

Ara Malikian's ‘Intruso’ is more than just a concert - it is a journey that transcends the barriers of origin and identity and shows us how music and art can act as a global bridge. Experience the powerful story of an ‘intruder’ who discovers the world as his home.
