Celebrate five decades of living medieval times with the Düppel Museum Village! A colorful program awaits you with music, fairy tales, old crafts, and fresh beer.
To mark the anniversary, the Düppel Museum Village offers exciting insights into the history of the village and the Middle Ages. A photo exhibition explores five decades of the open-air museum, and the Friends of the Düppel Museum Village Association presents medieval crafts such as pottery, blacksmithing, beekeeping, tar smelting, and textile processing.
The anniversary program is all about "Celebrating like they did back in the day!"
Learn about the foods and intoxicating drinks served at festivals in bygone times in the village square. Historical beers are brewed there in front of an audience, and medieval festive dishes are cooked.
And it's not just a matter of watching:
You can sample the historical beers on site and enjoy the "Düppler Stange" anniversary beer, bottled especially for the 50th anniversary. Bread is also baked on site in a clay oven based on historical models.
The program will be accompanied by music by the Wolgemut group, stories by the fairytale witch Silberzweig, and performances by the juggler and storyteller Astor Ytellar.
There's a quiz course especially for children, and freshly toasted stick bread will be available for everyone to enjoy. At the photo station, young and old are invited to dress up in medieval costumes for a souvenir photo.
