In the forecourt of Museum für Naturkunde Berlin
Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg responds with art to the dramatic extinction of pollinating insects and shows how art can open up new perspectives on our world and thus initiate social change.
With a post-anthropocentric approach, the project emphasizes the change in perspective that is urgently needed to tackle the current climate and biodiversity crisis and introduces the non-human aesthetics and experimental formats to drive this forward together.
The Pollinator Pathmaker edition commissioned by LAS blossomed in the forecourt of the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin in summer 2023. On an area of 722 square meters, over 7,000 plants of 80 different species were planted to provide food for a variety of pollinating insects.
To further increase the impact of the project, LAS initiated a campaign to accompany the project, calling on neighborhood gardening clubs, hobby gardeners and activists to plant gardens using the algorithm via www.pollinator.art and thus become part of the international network.
To further expand the project, the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin also offers an interactive educational program that uses various formats to educate people about the essential role of pollinating insects for ecosystems and raise awareness of their needs.
