by Katherine Kressmann Taylor
The German Martin Schulze and the American Jew Max Eisenstein run a thriving art gallery in the USA. In 1932 Schulse decided to return to Germany with his family.
The epistolary novel Address Unknown by Kathrine Kressmann Taylor (1903-1996) was published in 1938 in the New York magazine Story. The author, who worked as an advertising copywriter from 1926 to 1928, was unknown until then. Recipient unknown, she later reported, was based on several true letters. Over 60 years later it also became a bestseller in Germany and France.
