The special exhibition Traffic World, which was developed in cooperation between Körperwelten Berlin and the ADAC, draws attention to the dangers of road traffic and aims to sensitise young people in particular.
Novice drivers and young people are particularly at risk of being involved in road accidents due to their inexperience and willingness to take risks. In 2022, 70,957 young people were involved in road traffic accidents (Destatis, 2023).
Following on from this, the exhibition Traffic World deals with three topics that are among the most common causes of accidents involving personal injury among adults at the wheel:
- Distraction caused by a smartphone or music, for example,
- the dangerous blind spots when turning off a lorry
- or the effects of intoxicants such as alcohol and drugs.
Using appealing and interactive media, the aim is to make the target groups aware of the risks in road traffic and to encourage a process of reflection that can lead to a change in behaviour in terms of safe road safety.
Both KÖRPERWELTEN and the ADAC Foundation want to positively influence people's lifestyles with their programmes: through education in the areas of health and prevention, mindfulness of one's own life is brought into focus.
For example, KÖRPERWELTEN shows diseased organs that can be caused by unauthorised alcohol consumption, and the ADAC Foundation provides information about the consequences of unauthorised intoxicants in road traffic.
