The new presentation of the Design Collection in the Decorative Arts Museum is conceived as a collaborative and multi-perspective project. The entire museum team is actively involved in the selection and presentation process of the objects and contributes their respective expertise to the exhibition project. Visitors also have the opportunity to actively contribute their perspective on the objects.

The exhibition extends over a longer period of time and is expanded by continuous additions of objects from the collection, which continually provide cause for discussion. The exhibition addresses, among other things, the origin and emergence of the term "design", as well as the protagonists of this economically important branch of the economy, which is strongly geared towards consumption.

The focus is also on critical reflections on the role of design and decorative arts museums, which contribute significantly to the development of this area through the selection of objects. Both the museums themselves and the canon are called into question.
