To mark the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and liberation from National Socialism, the Treptow-Köpenick district museums are hosting a special series of events. Three dates provide insights into the dramatic weeks of upheaval in the spring of 1945 – between fear, chaos and the dawn of a new era.
The events commemorate the last days of the war in April 1945, when Soviet troops also reached Treptow and Köpenick. The period between the end of the war and the new beginning was characterised by profound changes that had a lasting impact on the lives of many Berliners.
