Bridge Markland has been moving virtuosically between the genres of the performing arts since the beginning of her stage career in 1985. In dance, theater, cabaret and puppetry, she easily crosses supposed boundaries between role play and transformation.
Bridge Markland - pioneer of drag and gender performance in Germany
She initiated the successful go drag! Festival, which has taken place at irregular intervals in various cities since 2002. With her classic in the box series, she takes up classic German theater material and has performed it extremely successfully for many years as solos with role changes, puppets and popular music. Bridge tours Germany and Europe with her work; she has also shown her short and full-length productions in the USA, Canada and Australia.
Her extensive work also includes site-specific and interactive dance improvisations, audience interactions and interdisciplinary collaborations with international artists.
In honor of her 40th stage anniversary, there will be two days of celebrations: with a video screening and film documentation of her performances at the AHA Berlin and a unique queens + kings drag show in the Varieté Salon of the ufaFabrik, to which Bridge Markland invites long-time companions and international guests.
