Norbert Burgmüller was a German composer and pianist of the Romantic period. Despite his short life, he left behind a remarkable body of work deeply influenced by the music of his time. His Second Symphony, which unfortunately remained unfinished, was later orchestrated by Robert Schumann and demonstrates his exceptional melodic talent and harmonic sensitivity.

Robert Schumann—known as an outstanding German composer and influential music critic of the Romantic period—was also a supporter of young talent and passionately championed the music of his contemporaries, including Norbert Burgmüller, whose works he greatly admired.
