Christmas Market in Berlin from 30 November to 1 December 2024

The Johannische Kirche and the Johannisches Sozialwerk e.V. invite you to a cosy get-together at the tradition-steeped market at St.-Michaels-Heim in its stress-free and tranquil atmosphere. Experience a special treat in the Advent season full of anticipation for the festival.

The parish of Berlin St. Michael's Home of the Johannische Kirche and its Johannisches Sozialwerk e.V. invite you to a cosy get-together at the traditional market at St. Michael's Home with a tranquil atmosphere without the hustle and bustle. Experience a special treat in the Advent season full of anticipation for the festive season. The nostalgic Christmas market against a historic backdrop has been around for over 40 years. In front of the beautifully illuminated former palace of the Mendelssohn family in Berlin's Grunewald forest, you can enjoy the contemplative atmosphere and numerous cultural offerings. The market also offers a lovingly designed programme for children

Crafts and bric-a-brac

At St. Michael's Home you will find stalls with second-hand and high-quality bric-a-brac, homemade crafts and lovingly designed handicrafts. The handicrafts, including the delicate angels, are very popular and make lovely gifts for Christmas. You can also buy Advent wreaths or a Christmas arrangement for yourself, your family or dear friends. You might even find an unexpected treasure at the jumble sale 

The proceeds from the Christmas market go to the Johannische Sozialwerk e.V.  and 
support its social activities. 

Culinary delicacies 

The local farm shop serves hearty meat and sausage specialities. Both the kitchen and the adjoining beer garden are open for you and serve a variety of hot dishes, delicious pastries, cakes, sweets and delicacies based on old recipes. In the tearoom, you can take a break from the hustle and bustle with a hot cup of tea, enjoy the Advent season and warm up.

Cultural offerings 

The Christmas market's varied cultural programme includes performances, concerts and readings as well as numerous musical performances. You can listen to Christmas stories and music in the Salon Mendelssohn. On the forecourt, the Johannische Bläserchor plays popular Christmas melodies. The St John's Choir Berlin will get you in the mood for Christmas in the church. You are cordially invited to sing along to the Christmas carols. 

At the end of the dayshort devotions will conclude the Christmas markett. An Advent service will take place in the church at 11am on Sunday.  

Crafting and baking: programme for children 

There is also a special offer for children: they can make Christmas decorations together and thus already have a nice present for their grandparents. They can also bake and decorate delicious Christmas biscuits and listen to exciting Christmas stories in the fairytale room.Michaels-Heim

Our tips for your visit to the Christmas market

Visit the market in the late afternoon hours when the St.-Michaels-Heim  is atmospherically illuminated. After or before visiting the Christmas market, you can take a  walk along the Herthasee lake and through the quiet villa neighbourhood. Take the M19 bus and  ride along the elegant Königsallee with its stately houses and then continue across the festively illuminated Kurfürstendamm
