The area around Köppchensee is located on the northern edge of Berlin, in the former border area between Lübars and Blankenfelde. This open landscape is rare in the urban area and contains a mosaic of micro-biotopes covering almost 60 hectares: dry grassland, orchards, a gravel pit, the four-hectare Köppchensee - a former landfill site -, meadows and a swamp forest.
Stroll around the Köppchensee with grassroots ecologist and "Rabe Ralf" author Wolfgang Heger and find out how a garbage dump on the death strip became a valuable biotope.
