As part of the expansion of Berlin's A100 urban motorway, preliminary construction work for future subway lines has already been completed at key traffic junctions. At Innsbrucker Platz, the motorway runs through a short tunnel section beneath a major railway line – beneath which an impressively deep and long, previously unused subway station was built.
The approximately two to two-and-a-half-hour guided tour offers fascinating insights into this extraordinary structure, as well as into a forgotten subway tunnel from the 1910s that extends beneath a residential area.
