Brotfabrik

Art, culture and socialising in the neighbourhood

In the 19th century, the site of the bread factory in Weißensee was home to a horse stable and an inn, and a bakery was added later. In the 1980s, an FDJ youth club moved into the premises, from which the Brotfabrik youth and cultural centre emerged in 1990. A gallery has moved into the former horse stable. Brotfabrik also houses an independent cinema with a carefully-curated schedule and a small stage. A cosy pub rounds off the offer. Brotfabrik’s socio-cultural and inclusive aspirations constitute one of its special features. The topics of accessibility and visibility of LGBTQi+ are particularly important.
