Public holidays in March: International Women's Day (8 March)
In addition to Berlin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern can also look forward to a public holiday this year on International Women's Day on 8 March. On 1 May, Labour Day, the public holiday falls on a Thursday. With a day off on Friday, 2 May, you can enjoy a nice long weekend - perfect for a spring city trip to Berlin.
On 8 May 2025, the 80th anniversary of the liberation from National Socialism will be celebrated, a unique public holiday on a Thursday. Take Friday off and take the opportunity to visit historical sites and commemorative events in Berlin on this special day.
On 29 May, all German states celebrate Ascension Day. How about taking a day off on Friday 30 May and planning a long weekend? Why not invite the fathers to the capital for a few wonderful days on Fathers' Day!

There are three days off in all federal states at Whitsun: Whitsun Monday on 9 June 2025 is a public holiday throughout Germany. Or you can take the whole week off with just four days, giving you eleven days to discover Berlin and its many green oases.

All Saints' Day on Saturday 1. November is a public holiday in some other federal states, namely in Baden- Württemberg, Bavaria, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate and Saarland. Plan two days in Berlin: while the weather turns late autumn, museums, exhibitions and concert halls invite you to enjoy culture.
Saxons can count themselves lucky, because only in their federal state is the Day of Prayer and Repentance on 22 November a public holiday. However, as this day falls on a Saturday in 2025, it will remain a regular weekend. Nevertheless, it is a perfect opportunity to discover Berlin's cultural landscape - a visit is always worthwhile!

Holidays & bridge days in December: Christmas and New Year's Eve
Christmas Eve is on a Wednesday this year, and so Christmas is celebrated on Thursday and Friday. So if you want to celebrate the festive season in Berlin, you have a festive short trip of five days without a day's holiday. And if you want to stay even longer, you can take three days off and then stay until New Year's Eve on an eleven-day holiday and continue celebrating.
