Babylon

Films in a historical frame

A cinema visit in the Babylon is always a trip through time—no matter which film one watches. The original cinema from the 20’s was designed by Hans Poelzig, and still possesses the worldly charm of this epoch. Fitting to the ambient, silent films with piano accompaniment are here presented, but also Spanish, French film series—and for friends of weird films, there are trash-gems to be discovered.

Every Wednesday at 11 am, families can watch one of the latest films with their babies in the Babylon. Babies will not be disturbed by loud volume or light reflections. Prams can be taken into the cinema and the sound volume is significantly reduced so as not to alarm the babies. The cinema is dimly lit during the screening. And a changing table can be provided separately.

Watch films without feeling guilty

This special series has been on the programme at the Babylon since 2006. It means young parents with small babies don't have to miss out on the latest films. As everyone is a parent, they are more understanding when a baby cries or needs changing. And there's also a chance for a chat afterwards; about the on-screen events or babies.
