Luise Köpenick
The restaurant is located at Berlin’s first public park
Once a clothmaker’s, then a leatherworker’s and later a butcher’s, the building now houses Restaurant Luise, home to upmarket cuisine and international wines. In 2005, the building and restaurant were refurbished and made wheelchair accessible. The menu always offers vegetarian and vegan options.
On request, the restaurant team can also provide organic or gluten-free meals, or dishes for people with allergies.
Set at the meeting of the Rivers Dahme and Spree, Restaurant Luise’s spreading waterfront terrace is especially attractive in summer. Step-free wheelchair access to the main interior seating area is over a boarded footpath. A separate bar area – reached by a small set of stairs – offers a wonderful view of the sunset.
Incidentally, Restaurant Luise in Köpenick is on a historical site. The Luisenhain was Berlin’s first public park, donated to Köpenick by Karl Otto Asseburg in 1906 in memory of his sister Luise, who died young.
