Berlin for children – 0-3 years

Big adventure city for small explorers

Berlin is a huge adventure playground for children. Everything is new and exciting and the selection of sights, attractions and playgrounds leaves nothing to be desired. Often one day is not enough for exploring everything, so a trip to the capital has to be well planned.

The day should not be too packed, especially for small children, and enough breaks to play about should be planned in. To help ensure your visit to Berlin is a great experience for the whole family, and both parents and children have lots of fun, we’d like to give you some tips and recommendations for an unforgettable stay.

Places of interest

A visit to Berlin with children needn’t be too expensive. You can even discover many places of interest in Berlin with children free of charge. And arriving by train at Berlin’s Central Station can already be your first exciting experience. The train traffic and the hustle and bustle of the crowds at Central Station is a scene that the little ones will barely be able to stop gazing at in amazement. Onwards to Brandenburg Gate, the most important sight in the city. Taking a holiday snap in front of the gate is of course a must. If you would like to sit back, relax and take in the most beautiful sights of Berlin, you don’t have to spend a lot of money on a city tour. Just hop on the no. 100 bus and let yourself be driven through the city to the TV Tower. From here it’s just a few metres to the Neptune Fountain. The kids can play about here and enjoy a welcome cool down in summer.

Attractions

Children love animals! That's why a visit to Tierpark is a truly special experience for the little ones. To avoid standing in line at the ticket counter for hours during summer with small children, you can book your tickets for the zoo, aquarium and Tierpark directly online and conveniently print them out at home. PS: Tierpark’s large playground offers a welcome spot to cool off during summer for both its younger and older guests, thanks to its numerous water features.

Parks and gardens

Big city pavements often tire out little children’s legs. A walk through one of the numerous parks and gardens is a welcome change. The kids can play about on the green lawns and playgrounds while the adults relax for a moment on a blanket or one of the many park benches. PS: Why not have a picnic in the park? When Mum and Dad also sit on the ground and everyone eats the delicious goodies that were prepared together, often little children’s appetites can be bigger than at home, thus guaranteeing fun for the whole family.

Playgrounds

And if the little adventurers really want to let off steam: Berlin offers small children plenty of playgrounds with adventure, climbing and obstacle courses, at which some adults will also wish they were kids again. Treat yourself to a break while you watch your children play, because as the saying goes: when the children are happy, the parents are relaxed.

Child-friendly restaurants

Often taking small children to a restaurant can become a challenging activity for parents. Especially when the children are still very small and their urge to move is great while sitting still for a long time is difficult. Next time why not visit a child-friendly restaurant in Berlin and enjoy your meal in peace while the kids run around on the playground or in the play area.
