Exclusive shopping in Mitte

The area directly around Hackescher Markt is well worth a shopping trip. In the narrow streets you’ll discover some of the city’s trendiest fashion labels: C’est tout in Mulackstraße presents fashion made in Berlin with a pinch of French elegance. A few steps further on, the designer Claudia Skoda turns fine Italian yarn into smart knitwear.

Alte Schönhauser Straße

On Alter Schönhauser Straße is the flagship store of the internationally renowned Lala Berlin – metropolitan chic from Berlin, as unconventional as it is feminine and elegant. You can also visit the Berlin branch of Germany’s biggest vintage and second-hand clothes seller: the PICKnWEIGHT Vintage Kilo Store – a glittering range of clothing and accessories from past decades. Just like at the weekly market, the goods are sold by the kilogram.

Torstraße

Slightly further on, on Torstraße, there’s something to pick you up if you’re getting tired of shopping: in the Happy Shop with its giant smiley, colourful, hip and crazy designer items hang on movable racks from the six-metre-high store ceiling. After that you can restore your strength at one of the many bars and restaurants on Torstraße.

Moabit

Or you could go for a change of scenery and hop over to Moabit to see the Arminius-Markthalle. It’s one of the oldest market halls in Berlin, with the atmosphere of the late 19th century – a fascinating steel structure with ornate arches, cast-iron floral decorations and the arched windows of a Gothic church. It’s open until 10 p.m. for you to explore its warren of food stands and enjoy both gourmet delicacies and down-to-earth fare, or go into one of its restaurants.
