Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf by bike

In just an hour and a half of pure travelling time, you will discover the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district, which is bursting with breathtaking baroque and modern architecture and cultural highlights. Plan enough time for breaks and stops, because you won't want to linger in just one place. Visit interesting museums, follow in the footsteps of West Berlin's history and discover remnants of industrialisation.

This tour starts and ends at Mierendorffplatz, where U-Bahn line 7 runs. The Jungfernheide ring railway station is just a stone's throw away.

Tour Highlights

You start in the direction of Charlottenburg Palace, whose extensive gardens you can explore by bike. You then cycle past two domed buildings into Schloßstraße. The eastern Stüler building houses the Scharf-Gerstenberg Collection, opposite which is the Berggruen Museum. Right next to it, the Bröhan Museum displays arts and crafts and paintings from the Art Nouveau period.

From Schloßstraße, take a short detour to the District Museum in the Villa Oppenheim. The tour then continues to Lietzensee, one of Charlottenburg's favourite destinations. After a detour to the architecturally interesting Charlottenburg district court, which was built in the neo-baroque style at the beginning of the 20th century, you head into the heart of Wilmersdorf.

Worth seeing are the Russian Orthodox Church and the Wilmersdorf Mosque, which is the oldest mosque in Germany. Not far away is the Kommunale Galerie Berlin, which exhibits contemporary art.

On this route, you will also pass the Schaubühne theatre and the Deutsche Oper opera house. Two buildings with an impressive history that are well worth delving into. Finally, you cycle along the River Spree to the historic Charlottenburg power station.
