Sammlung Haubrok (Haubrok Collection)

A work by Raoul de Keyser, acquired in 1988, marked the beginning of Barbara and Axel Haubrok's collection. In the following years, the art lovers concentrated on collecting paintings. Their interest shifted to conceptual art with works by Günter Förg, including photographs and sculptures, a shift that along with Minimal Art makes up the core of their collection, now consisting of more than 750 works. Among the highlights are works by Jonathan Monk, Christopher Williams, Heimo Zobernig, Haegue Yang, Martin Boyce, Carol Bove, and Wade Guyton, as well as an increasing number of pieces by first-generation conceptual artists, including Stanley Brouwn, Ian Wilson, and Morgan Fisher. Meanwhile, Barbara and Axel Haubrok acquired the former FAHRBEREITSCHAFT in 2013 to host their exhibitions. Located in Berlin-Lichtenberg, opposite the Dong-Xuan-Center promoting cultural relations with Vietnam, this site was once the central vehicle service area for East Germany's Communist leadership. Purchased in its original condition more than two decades after the fall of the regime, a guardhouse, a sauna, and a bowling alley remain as reminders of its former purpose. The new FAHRBEREITSCHAFT has not been turned into a project centred on the art; instead, the Haubroks seek to complement the existing commercial structures with new ones.
