31st Conference of the World Association for the Advancement of Veterinary Parasitology

This will be the second time for Berlin to host a WAAVP conference, the first being the 13th conference in August 1989, which was held in the East German part of the city. At that time, the city was still divided by a divisive wall, as were the country and the continent. However, already then Veterinary Parasitology joined scientists from both sides of the iron curtain and, briefly after, the separation became history. Recognizing these historic changes and the unifying strengths of science, the theme of the WAAVP conference 2027 will be ‘No matter when, no matter how: Veterinary Parasitology unites us all’.

As always, the conference will provide a great opportunity to present, learn and discuss the latest findings from all fields of Veterinary Parasitology. In a true One Health approach, a key focus will be interactions between human and environmental sciences. Berlin is home to many leading research institutions, including three major universities, the Robert-Koch-Institute, and several Max-Plank institutes. Together, these contribute to its outstanding reputation as city of science and will support an energetic atmosphere to the conference.

Berlin, as Germany`s capital, is one of the top tourist destinations in Europe with countless opportunities to enjoy its 800 years of history, world-class museums, diverse culinary scene, vibrant nightlife plus exciting cultural and sports events.
