In May 2025, the month commemorating the end of the Second World War, FrauVonDa// creates an ode to democracy with STILL::SILENCE.

At the centre of the installation concert is the moving and unacknowledged greek resistance of the female partisans against the German occupation, and the question of a universal human understanding of justice and democracy.

FrauVonDa// follows in their footsteps and opens up spaces for the memory that is still missing today: central sites of Greek resistance are brought to life with their present-day sound environments. Diary fragments and interviews with descendants recall the women's visionary struggle.

Together with protest researcher Simon Teune and Greek artist and activist Danae Nagel, among others, FrauVonDa// discusses the significance of democratic protest today.

Resistance is now.

In active remembering.

In listening.

In art.

FrauVonDa is a Berlin-based performance and intermedia production ensemble under the artistic direction of Claudia van Hasselt and Nicolas Wiese.

The ensemble has been creating connections between music/art/performance, science and society for 12 years, internationally and with changing team partners.

The concerts, sound and video works explore socially relevant topics in a multisensory way.

FrauVonDa// focuses the senses on the unheard and overlooked, interweaving oral history with scientific findings and artefacts from various countries.

FrauVonDa// brings together historians, social researchers, natural scientists, musicians/performers and the general public.

They experiment with new narratives from a variety of perspectives and far removed from interpretative sovereignty.

The ensemble's modus operandi creates previously non-existent, emotional-cognitive spaces for discourse and integrates these into the performance as a live, improvisational, unplannable art form.

FrauVonDa// works in an open format and conceptualises the narrative forms of image, performative events, sound and vibration as entities. The work process follows the results of the extensive artistic research work and the artistic content material that emerges. In this way, new interdisciplinary and interactive performance formats are constantly being created, in which talks become ready-made. The ideal is an open, interactive stage community in which all (human and non-human) sensory perceptions have equal rights - heterogeneous, multi-perspective, regional/international.

Their constantly growing network with partners from the arts and sciences from different regions of the world leads to sustainable collaborations.

This has recently resulted in works such as the multi-format Finnish-German Baltic Sea project THE Å//A UNIVERSE - HIDDEN SONGLINES OF THE BALTIC SEA and the OderHive river project in cooperation with the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries in Berlin.
