Insights into the historic church library
In the smaller exhibition space, the so-called "Cabinet," Spandovia Sacra is presenting an overview of the history and holdings of the historic church library of St. Nicholas this year. The exhibition offers a rare insight into this cultural treasure—a glimpse "through the keyhole," so to speak.
The St. Nicholas parish in Spandau boasts one of the few church libraries in Brandenburg whose extensive holdings have been preserved almost completely over the centuries.
The library reflects the intellectual development of Brandenburg-Prussia in all its stages: from the Lutheran Reformation to the confessional change of 1613, the influence of the Huguenots, and the Enlightenment. As a whole, it represents a significant cultural-historical monument.
