Of furnaces, mills and forging
Over four days, the Düppel Museum Village demonstrates everything it takes to turn ore into a sword. In the kiln, wood is turned into coal at high heat under airtight conditions. In the blast furnace, iron ore is smelted in a grueling process into a lump of iron, known as a lump. From both—the charcoal and the lump—the blacksmith will ultimately shape a blade.
The historical sword school teaches how to wield such a sword. In the armor workshop, you can also help weave a chainmail armor.
If you've got the hang of it, you can even make a bracelet out of metal rings!
For those who are hungry, there will be freshly toasted bread on a stick afterward.
