by Martin Sherman
It is the life story of a Jewish woman at the beginning of the 20th century; the story of a woman who combines wit, humor, wisdom, spirit, emotion, and vitality.
Rose recounts her eventful life: from her youth in a Ukrainian shtetl to her rescue from the ghetto by a Jewish-American officer who takes her to the USA and marries her. Since his last name is Rose, she is henceforth called Rose Rose! Rose's son emigrates to Israel, and one day his son, Rose's grandson, of all people, shoots a Palestinian girl under the influence of ultra-Orthodox settlers.
Martin Sherman's skillful interpretation of this explosive subject raises awareness of the complex connections surrounding the current war.
