Special guided tour with palace director Dr. Margrit Schulze, SPSG
Every year, Frederick William I came to Wusterhausen for the Herbstlust and devoted himself to his great passion of hunting. He greatly appreciated the simple country life far away from the hectic city of Berlin.
Königs Wusterhausen Palace was originally surrounded by a moat with a drawbridge, which was built to protect the former castle complex. Frederick William I used the castle island to dine there with his family at a long table under a Turkish tent.
After the moat was filled in in the middle of the 19th century, the castle has stood on an island surrounded by a moat since 2000.
The castle museum also opened 25 years ago after extensive restoration work. This is a celebration. Following the tour, a glass of sparkling wine will be served on the castle island.
