Vacation workshop for children aged 5 and over with palace director Dr. Margrit Schulze, SPSG
A popular pastime in courtly society in the 17th and 18th centuries was the game of mail. In France - at the time of Louis XIV - this "ball hitting" was the game of the nobility. Flat courses were laid out especially for this game, lined with shady avenues. Later, "croquet", a similar game played on the lawn, caught on among the people.
Skittles and blind man's buff were also popular in the 18th century and are still often played today.
But where does the name "blind man's buffalo" come from? This and much more can be found out in the castle and castle gardens of Königs Wusterhausen.
