Lecture and discussion with Dr. Manfred Richter, former head of the art service of the Protestant Church (retired).

The Protestant Art Service, which had been responsible for the relationship between art and the church since the 1920s and was based at Matthäikirchplatz during World War II, was placed under the control of the Ministry of the Interior from 1933 onwards, then the Reich Chamber of Culture, and finally the Ministry of Propaganda.

With its curatorial and journalistic work, it developed into an important authority in the education of Nazi taste and was involved in the Nazi exhibition "Degenerate Art" – a dark and previously little-researched chapter of German church history.

On April 29, 1945, its branch at Matthäikirchplatz 2, in what is now the Kulturforum, was destroyed by incendiary bombs.
