The performance "Echoes of May 8th" in Rudolph Jungck Park invites visitors to reflect on the significance of May 8th in Lichtenberg today.
In interviews, residents of different generations and cultural backgrounds share their personal perspectives on the end of the war and its aftermath.
The conversations were held in everyday life – in squares, markets, or in front of supermarkets – and made audible in the park on May 8th: Loudspeakers in trees create sound zones where passersby can listen to the voices.
Large-format tarpaulins with historical information about May 8th convey knowledge while also offering shade and places of retreat. Visitors are invited to write down their own thoughts and memories, thus becoming part of a shared space of remembrance.
