Special guided tour with park district manager Jan Uhlig, SPSG
Under Frederick William III, a menagerie was established on Peacock Island at the beginning of the 19th century. Until the king's death in 1840, it was home to almost 1,000 animals of over one hundred species - including bears, kangaroos, parrots, ostriches, wolves, monkeys, llamas and water buffalo.
- Where was this menagerie and which buildings still exist from that time?
Jan Uhlig, the park manager of Peacock Island, will take you on a search for traces of this unique facility.
