Curators Martina Lüdicke and Monika Sommerer take turns guiding visitors through the exhibition Inventories: The Legacy of Salman Schocken. Experience the legacy of Jewish publisher Salman Schocken through the eyes of Pulitzer Prize winner Joshua Cohen.
The JMB invites American author Joshua Cohen to explore the cultural legacy of publisher and department store entrepreneur Salman Schocken. Drawing on selected objects from the museum’s collection, Cohen reflects on the history of the Schocken publishing house in the exhibition, using it to inform a contemporary perspective on culture and capital, on department stores and museums and, ultimately, on questions of (re)appropriation and belonging.
