It wasn't until 2023 that Richy Mitch & The Coal Miners from Colorado embarked on their first headline tour, playing at festivals like Lollapalooza and Hinterland. The band, featuring Mitch Cutts, Nic Haughn, and Jakob Ervin, has been around since high school. They released their debut album, "RMCM," in 2017 – recorded in a closet during a semester break.

Their success came as a surprise: In 2024, their song "Evergreen" went viral on TikTok, garnering over 300,000 videos and over 925 million streams on Spotify. The track entered the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum in the US and UK. Their back catalog also benefited – "Lake Missoula" became their next sleeper hit with over 120 million streams.
With their current album, "Colorado's On Fire Again," the band continues their sound, which blends folk, indie, and roots music. In September, they'll be performing in Berlin under the tour of the same name.
Despite their success, their music remains a passion project. For singer Mitch, it symbolizes their friendship: "Honest music with a lot of vulnerability."
