The exhibition ‘Moody’ by the painter Simone Strasser presents her landscape paintings. Her paintings are always both figurative and abstract.

In her paintings, the artist Simone Strasser takes perception as her starting point and transfers her sensory impressions directly onto the canvas.

Over the past 20 years, Simone Strasser has developed her very own style of landscape painting.

She paints in the “old-fashioned” pleineair style and takes her canvas directly out into the landscape. And breaks down and transforms what she sees ‘into the finest colour gradations such as two-dimensional colour gradients (...) The principle is reminiscent of the method of the Impressionists or Pointillists, namely to break down the impressions of light and colour in nature into a multitude of individual dots, areas or strokes of colour, whose overall composition then - as with Simone Strasser - transforms the impression of nature into an almost metaphorically lyrical exaggeration’. (Review Radio-Kulturkanal).

"Painting today is more about painting itself than ever before. Precisely because other functions are being replaced by digital media, what only painting can do is now crystallising," says the artist.

Simone Strasser (*1977) lives and works in Ingolstadt. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and was a master student of Anke Doberauer.

Her works have been shown in numerous cultural institutions and galleries, including:
Kunstverein Ingolstadt, Stadtmuseum Amberg, Kunsthalle Bremen, Kulturverein Modern Studio (Munich-Freising), Goethe-Institut (Munich), Neuer Pfaffenhofener Kunstverein, Städtische Galerie am Rathausfletz (Neuburg), Kunstverein Grafschaft Bentheim (Neuenhaus), Städtische Galerie in der Harderbastei (Ingolstadt) and others. a.m.
