Yasmeen Godder

How do people connect with themselves and others? Yasmeen Godder has been exploring this fundamental question since 2019 with her project "Practicing Empathy." To date, she has created three different performative shows in which she explores empathy as a fundamental skill for understanding complex contexts and processing challenges.

The focus is on the act of practicing within a performative framework to discover new ways to better open up and connect with others.

With the third installment of her series, Yasmeen Godder has developed a solo piece for herself for the first time in her 25-year career. The piece is highly physical, an intimate narrative in which she traces her work on the project during the challenges of the pandemic. What is the significance of self-sensitivity while confronted with restrictions, loss of control, and isolation?

The solo is like a profound inner discovery: while survival mechanisms are continually developed, her dance unfolds in a dizzying way, reminding her of her own physical resources and finally finding a place of security and connection.
