STRASBOURG-BERLIN
From 3 to 6 June 2025, the Jazzdor Strasbourg-Berlin festival will present its 17th edition in the Kesselhaus of the Kulturbrauerei. Berlin audiences can expect a top-class programme with ten German premieres featuring musicians from France, the USA, Poland, Belgium and Germany.
A special highlight is the world premiere of the Orchestre National de Jazz under the direction of Sylvaine Hélary. The orchestra will present a tribute to jazz legend Carla Bley, who died in October 2023. The festival will also focus on encounters between Polish and French musicians. They will rehearse together during the festival and offer the audience a unique concert experience.
This edition of Jazzdor Berlin marks the departure of Philippe Ochem as artistic director. After his retirement at the end of August, he will hand over the reins to his successor Vincent Bessière. ‘Founding a Franco-German festival in Berlin was an incredible adventure for me,’ says Philippe Ochem. ‘I will particularly remember the open and exploratory Berlin audience.’
Over the years, Jazzdor Berlin has established itself as an important platform for exchange between French and German musicians. Vincent Bessière will be present in Berlin during the festival.
Philippe Ochem says goodbye with a programme that reflects his flair for exceptional musical encounters and promises the highest artistic quality.
- Festival Jazzdor Berlin is presented to you by Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Jazzthing and Jazzguide Berlin.
