On the occasion of the 20th UNESCO World Heritage Day, STALINBAUTEN e. V. invites you to a public guided tour along Karl-Marx-Allee on 1 June 2024 – despite the failure to nominate it as a World Heritage Site.

This year, UNESCO World Heritage Day is taking place for the 20th time under the motto ‘Communicate, Connect, Inspire’.

Although the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder in the Federal Republic of Germany did not want to decide to propose the two construction phases of Karl-Marx-Allee and the ‘interbau 1957’ area for UNESCO World Heritage status, the non-profit association STALINBAUTEN e.V. is nevertheless once again taking part in the Berlin programme with a public guided tour.

Achim Bahr is offering a walk along the avenue on Sunday, 1 June 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The meeting point is the southwestern exit of the ‘Weberwiese’ underground station (U5) at Block D-Süd, Karl-Marx-Allee 100. From there, the route passes the imposing residential buildings of the former Stalinallee.

Additional information
  • The walk takes about 2 ½ – 3 hours and takes place – in dry weather – with a minimum of ten people.
  • Participation is free of charge
  • and registration is not required – subject to change.
  • Language: German
