A very special moment
The Pleiades star cluster is particularly visible in the Berlin sky during the winter. In New Zealand, these stars are called "Matariki," and their first visibility at dusk before sunrise toward the end of June marks the beginning of a new year in the Māori lunar calendar.
Since 2022, "Matariki" has been a public holiday in New Zealand, this year on June 20th. The Zeiss Großplanetarium would like to use this opportunity for a very special "starry hour": Travel from Berlin under the starry sky of New Zealand.
With the support of the "Kia Ora Berlin" group, you will learn more about the meaning of "Matariki," view the southern sky, and fly out into space with the help of the 360° projection to get a closer look at some objects.
The event will be held in English.
