In its multifaceted repertoire, the quartet combines traditional Anatolian folk songs as well as Turkish art and pop music with works of European classical music and modern jazz elements – thus creating a unique sound experience.
Composer and pianist Sinem Altan, who won the European Composer Award in 2015, arranged this musical balancing act, which reveals the mysterious kinship between the two worlds.
The "voice" of Olivinn is Begüm Tüzemen, who, with her multifaceted and warm soprano, brings heart and radiance to the songs. The singer is accompanied by Sinem Altan on piano, multi-instrumentalist Özgür Ersoy, and percussionist Axel Meier. Together, they demonstrate that cultures, in constant exchange, create new, exciting genres and art forms.
Embark on an unforgettable musical journey with the Olivinn ensemble that transcends boundaries in the mind and the heart!
The Olivinn Ensemble formed a quartet in 2010 and won the Junge Ohren Special Prize for particularly innovative music education with an intercultural dimension just one year later with their fairytale concert "Keloglan and the Robber Gang." The Olivinn Ensemble has performed several times with the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra and regularly participates in music theater productions at venues including the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin, the post-migrant theater Ballhaus Naunynstraße, and the Atze Music Theater.
The ensemble released its first album, "KARA," in 2014, followed by its second studio album, "HAVA," in 2023. Concerts have taken Olivinn to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Turkey.
