Wettstar.de 35th Prize of German Unity

For the 35th time, Rennbahn Hoppegarten is celebrating the Day of German Unity with a nationally significant sporting event - the WETTSTAR.de Prize of German Unity. Originally launched in 1991 by the charismatic cigar king and Berlin friend Zino Davidoff as the ‘Prix Zino Davidoff - Prize of German Unity’, this international horse race immediately became a crowd favourite of the Berlin racing season and is now one of the top race days in Germany.

Why do 15,000 fans from all over Germany and thousands of Berliners and Brandenburgers make the pilgrimage to this cult race day every year? Because the fall of the Berlin Wall made it possible for people and horses from all parts of Berlin, Germany and abroad to come together at the country's largest and most beautiful racecourse.

Goosebump moments are guaranteed when the national anthem is played before the main race, thousands of voices sing along and the horses charge down the home straight a little later. Pure emotion when fans cheer on their favourites with German flags!

  • 2,000 German flags are distributed before all sing the national anthem together before the main race.

  • Numerous food trucks and food stalls offer treats such as burgers, fries, bratwurst, Alpine cuisine, pizza, Korean, Florida ice cream, donuts and more.

  • No boredom for kids: trampoline, bouncy castle, pony rides, pumpkin carving and painting, face painting and the popular children's fun bet.
