Tamino's previously released songs such as ‘Indigo Night’, ‘Habibi’, ‘Sunflower’, or more recently ‘Babylon’, ‘Sanctuary’ and ‘Willow’ fuse the influences of classic pop and folk songwriters with the longing, poetry and artistry of traditional Egyptian sounds. His voice glows throughout, shifting from deep and sultry one moment to a flickering falsetto the next.


‘Using music to convey deeper messages is key to Tamino's work,’ says ‘The Guardian’. ‘This has led many to compare him to the late American singer Jeff Buckley, but with orchestral arrangements that hint at his Arab ancestry. Tamino himself said of the new record that it was the first album on which he had tried to take a more conceptual approach to his previously very intuitive songwriting: ‘I felt an enormous urge to build a metaphysical altar to what has been lost. The end result, though eclectic at times, feels like the most harmonious record I've made to date’.
