Explore Berlin on a tour with a historic bus or immerse yourself in Berlin's nightlife with a party guide: There are a lot of new things to discover in Berlin this month. We are particularly excited about the reopening of the Gendarmenmarkt, which is now not only Berlin's most beautiful square after renovation work, but also barrier-free and climate-friendly. Our top 11 new openings in March.
Tip 1: Gendarmenmarkt reopens

The Gendarmenmarkt will reopen in March. After several years of renovation work, Berlin's most beautiful square is now fully accessible again - and completely barrier-free. Under the new natural stone paving, electricity and water pipes were laid underground for future events. This means that there will be no need for tripping cables above ground at events in future. In addition, an underground system collects rainwater and returns it pre-cleaned to the groundwater. This means that Berlin's most beautiful square is now also one of the most environmentally friendly.
Welcome the square with a visit to a café or restaurant. As soon as it gets warmer, there will also be seating. And the Classic Open Air Festival at Gendarmenmarkt is also celebrating its comeback this summer after a two-year break!
Tip 2: Opening of the DDR Museum depot in Berlin-Marzahn

The DDR Museum is expanding its presence with the opening of the new depot in Berlin-Marzahn. Around 360,000 everyday objects from the GDR era are stored here and made accessible to the public. The modern depot not only offers optimal conditions for preserving the exhibits, but also space for special exhibitions and educational programmes.

Tip 3: Moon Exquisite serves fusion cuisine in the Nikolaiviertel

The newly opened Moon Exquisite brings creative fusion cuisine to the historic Nikolaiviertel. Look forward to what is probably the first dry-aged duck in the capital. Chef Hoan Nguyen, who previously created the finest cuisine for "Reinhardts", combines Southeast Asian flavours with European influences. Look forward to yuzu burrata with smoked almonds and caramelised figs or grilled sea bass "Taiwan style" with bimi, green asparagus and sweet potato puree. Incidentally, Moon Exquisite occupies the premises of the former Balthazar II, so in summer you can once again sit on the terrace on the banks of the Spree.

In the past four years, visitors interested in culture have only had to look elsewhere for culinary delights. That is now set to change. After a break of several years, the bistro in the Kulturhaus Spandau will soon open under new management. The menu features international and traditional dishes, including burgers, stews, Königsberger Klopse (meatballs), fried potatoes and Turkish specialities such as kavurma and tantuni.

It all starts at the Rigaer Kiosk on Frankfurter Allee. You'll get to know each other over a cold beer before heading to a private DJ set with changing Berlin DJs - exclusively for you. Afterwards, you'll move on to a carefully selected rave, where you can dance until the early hours of the morning.

Tip 11: Detroit-style pizza & cinnamon rolls

Fergy
Following the success of its first location in Kreuzberg, Fergy is now bringing its famous Detroit-style pizza to Mitte and opened a second branch on 1 March. On 1 March, it opened a second branch on Rosenthaler Platz. The rectangular pizzas are thick and crispy. We think the caramelised cheddar crust is particularly tasty. Choose between classic toppings such as pepperoni or creative variations such as truffle or Bolognese.

Cinnamood

Cinnamon rolls are also still on trend in Berlin. Cinnamood is opening another branch in Friedrichshain on Saturday, 22 March.
