Historical Tour in Neukölln

In 1918, the November Revolution swept away the old order. Everything seemed possible: an end to the war, a new democratic beginning, the socialization of the economy. In Neukölln, people were particularly radical: the Spartacist Workers' and Soldiers' Council called for a "world revolution" and proclaimed the "Republic of Neukölln".

The tour reports on the successes and failures of the revolutionaries at the original locations. The story is told of the occupation of town halls and the liberation of prisoners, of the fratricidal struggle of the workers' parties and the birth of the first republic.
