Berlin's park railway in Wuhlheide is back on track! Trains have been running through the large park in Oberschöneweide since 1956. Young and old alike are enthusiastic about the narrow-gauge railways, which are pulled by steam or diesel locomotives.
The new season for Berlin's smallest railway, run by children, begins on 29/30 March. It will be running every weekend and on public holidays until autumn and on weekdays during the school holidays in Berlin.
On the opening weekend, half-hour round trips will be offered from the park railway's main station (main entrance FEZ / An der Wuhlheide), from 10:00 a.m. to 11:55 a.m. and from 1:40 p.m. to 5:10 p.m. The trains stop at all stations along the way, including the S-Bahn station Wuhlheide, where there is a direct connection to the S-Bahn line S3.
On selected dates, such as Easter and Pentecost, historic steam locomotives are used to pull the trains.
Tickets for the half-hourly round trips are sold on the trains and at the ticket office in the park railway's main station. The price is €5.00 per trip, while children aged 2 and up pay €3.50.
The railway is run by children and young people, with the help of adult volunteers. Together in the association, they learn everything there is to know about railways.
Additional trips at the beginning of spring
Due to the beautiful spring weather, half-hour round trips through the blossoming landscape will be offered on Sunday, 9 March.
The colourful train will depart from the main station (main entrance FEZ / An der Wuhlheide) every 35 minutes from 10:00 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:20 p.m., stopping at all stations along the way, including Wuhlheide S-Bahn station.
