Telephone tour with Andrea Dürr, SPSG, and Tanja Arthur
At the western end of the main avenue of the Sanssouci Park in Potsdam, a huge palace rises up, which can be recognized from afar by its high drum dome: the New Palace.
It is the last palace that Frederick the Great had built in his park. It was a demonstration of the unbroken capabilities of the Prussian state after the years of hardship during the Seven Years' War from 1756 to 1763.
The tour focuses on the Grotto Hall with its unique wall and ceiling decoration and the Marble Hall on the floor above. On the way between the two ballrooms, among many other rooms, there is the Oval Cabinet, which is particularly designed, and on the first floor there is a bathroom that was only installed in the late 19th century.
