Stories of and with women 500 years ago with Astrid Heiland-Vondruska and Kathrin Külow
Even over 500 years ago, times were turbulent and there were strong and assertive women. In Brandenburg around 1500, the ruling electors were interested in alchemy and ancient languages. The first Brandenburg university was founded in Frankfurt/Oder. The Reformation spread beyond Brandenburg's borders.
How did women fare in the Renaissance? What expectations did women have to fulfill in society? What (free) spaces did they have and what could they possibly fight for?
In this tour with Astrid Heiland-Vondruska and palace area manager Kathrin Külow, topics such as upbringing and educational opportunities for girls and women are examined.
It's not just about princesses and noble ladies at court, but also about citizens and craftswomen in the cities.
