The question of what is real and what is not is also occupying Christoph Marthaler these days. Until now, he and his people have been able to rely on the fact that the unreal is not automatically the perfectly fake, but (in the most interesting case) the surreal.

But the times are now light blue and the loudest undertones are dull. Now at the latest, we need an eye for the essentials and the strength to face the facts. And Marthaler and the ensemble have precise ideas about how this could work! The plan is an open-ended reality-taking event in ruinous times.
Anyone who cannot imagine what this means is part of the ideal group of visitors! Because as Emil M. Cioran, reality-taker of the famous Bucharest school, once said: “At the Last Judgement, only tears will be put on the scales.”
