A participatory project of the Junge Deutsche Oper for children aged 9 to 12
This year's winter holiday music lab "Pzzktz" is entirely dedicated to rhythm, and does so in different ways: In one lab, the whole body becomes an instrument, another lab introduces the children to rhythm through language and mouth, and in the third lab, the children explore the carpentry workshop to see everything that can be done with rhythm.
The lab times are from February 3rd to 8th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
On February 8th, at 4 p.m., the young rhythm researchers will present their lab results in the carpentry workshop.
The following labs are available to choose from:
If your child would like to register for this year's winter holiday music lab, please specify two preferred labs. Depending on availability, the team will then form the groups and assign the participants to one of the selected labs.
Lab 1: Let's groove - rhythm in motion
In this workshop, the whole body becomes an instrument. The participants will clap, snap, stomp, jump, whistle and sing. They will learn rhythm games and everyone will invent a few rhythms together. If you want to move and make music without having to pick up an instrument, this is the right place for you. The lab is led by Myriam Brigmann.
Lab 2: Master of the Ceremony - Rap and Beatbox
In this lab you will learn how to beatbox and rap really well yourself. The team has been on the road a lot with their art in recent years and now wants to show what it takes to put on a great show on stage. Learn how to write interesting texts and perform complex beats using only your mouth. The children will also make recordings and work on a performance for the final day. The lab is led by Damion and Kays.
Laboratory 3: Spatial sound
In this workshop, the children will explore how a room can sound: They will play on walls, doors, railings and even the floor of the carpentry shop and find out how different something sounds depending on whether you knock on it, hit it or pound on it, stroke it, wipe it or scratch it. If you want to make noises with everyday objects and use them to create moods and tell musical stories, this is the right place for you. The laboratory is led by Felix Stachelhaus.
approx. 60 minutes / no break
